Despite what lots of people think, a carb-heavy diet will only make you fat if the carbs are cooked in lots of oil or served dripping in greasy sauce. In fact, you should be basing your meals on starchy carbohydrates like bread, rice, potoatos and pasta. Carbs are what give you the energy to dance the night away. We all need lots of iron, but girls need more iron than boys because they have periods. Red meat is the best source of iron but if you're veggie you can get it from fortified brekkie cereals, wholegrain bread, green veg such as cabbage, broccoli and dark salad leaves, dried apricots cashews or almonds, lentils, peas and beans. Even trusty old baked beans are a good source.
